Frequently Asked Questions
Who is / isn't suitable for microneedling treatments?
Most people are suitable for facial treatments such as peeling, microdermabrasion and microneedling regardless of skin type, ethnicity, colour or condition. However, we cannot treat people that fall into one of the below categories or that suffer with any of the following:
- Anyone under the age of 18
- Severe skin conditions affecting the face and proposed treatment area (e.g eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis)
- People that suffer with severe keloid scarring in the treatment area
- Active skin or eye infections or diseases (e.g fungal infections, styes)
- Malignant melanoma in the area – could be cancerous and treatment could stimulate cancer cells and cause them to reproduce
- Currently on medications that effect the skin (e.g. steroids, Isotretinoin, Roaccutane/Accutane, some antibiotics)
- Pregnancy or breast feeding
- Cancer or recent radiation/chemotherapy treatments

How many sessions will I need?
Facial Peels
For most people looking to improve the quality of their skin after 1-2 peels a difference will be seen and a glow to the skin will be apparent. Those looking to work on a significant skin issue or looking for a transformation in their skin 6 sessions are adequate, with a minimum of 3-4 sessions to see noticeable and impactful improvement. These will be carried out on average every 2 weeks and the same procedure will be done on each session but will be tailored in respect to the condition of your skin and treatment plan to achieve the best results.
Microneedling/Dermapen
Once the full healing process is completed (approx. 4 weeks), after one session an improvement is often seen and a glow to the skin will be apparent with smoother feeling, hydrated skin. Those looking to work on a significant skin issue or looking for a transformation in their skin 6 sessions are adequate, with a minimum of 3-4 sessions to see noticeable and impactful improvement, although some people will benefit from combination treatment or additional sessions to achieve their goals depending on skin type, age & healing abilities. These will be carried out on average every 2-4 weeks depending on the depth of the facial and the same procedure will be done on each session but will be tailored in respect to the condition of your skin and treatment plan to achieve the best results.
Is there any downtime?
During and immediately following treatment temporary side effects such as: redness, itching, a heat/burning sensation, frosting (white patches) and flaking may occur. These are all normal reactions and generally nothing to be concerned about. For most treatments your skin will be back to normal in around 5 days.
How long does a session last?
From 45 minutes to 1hr45 mins depending on the specific facial booked and any Add on’s* included.
